We follow a multidisciplinary and collaborative research program focused on developing machine learning tools for healthcare related applications, ranging from cancer analysis to cardiovascular disease treatment. Our research interests cover many different areas in artificial intelligence including computer vision, natural language processing and computational biology. Given the diversity in our backgrounds and expertise, we are affiliated with the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology and Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto, as well as Vector Institute, the top AI research institute in Canada.
We take advantage of large data analytics, computational modeling, and advanced machine learning to solve real-world applications in healthcare. The lab's long-term research goals aim to develop integrative and interpretable machine learning algorithms that can help clinicians with predictive models and decision support to tailor patients’ care to their unique clinical and genomic traits.
We seek postdoctoral fellows for several projects in AI for health care. Selected projects include: Deep learning for medical image segmentations, Understanding clinical notes and biomedical texts using Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Risk Stratification of Cardiovascular Disease with Longitudinal data.
Doctorate in computational biology, computer science, engineering, statistics, or physics. Published/submitted papers in genomics or machine learning research. Experience with analysis of medical images or biomedical texts. Expertise in Python, C/C++ and Unix programming environments.
Hands-on experience in high performance computing, especially for parallelizing code in C/C++ (openMP) and/or python in a cluster environment (Sun Grid Engine or Torque).
We will accept applications until the position is filled. Please submit a CV, a copy of your most relevant paper, and the names, email addresses, and phone numbers of three references to bowang@vectorinstitute.ai. The subject line of your email should start with "POSTDOC WANGLAB". All documents should be provided in PDF.
Multiple positions for graduate students are available for the study of machine learning in health care with a focus on cardiovascular disease.
We seek doctorate students with formal training in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or Computer Science. Expertise with analysis of AI on medical images or biomedical texts is required. Expertise in Python, R, C/C++ and Unix programming environments is crucial.
